A Short Story
Germany · 19th Century

Heinrich Hermann Robert Koch was born in 1843 in Clausthal, a small mining town in Germany. After studying medicine in Göttingen under the great anatomist Jacob Henle, he became a rural district physician in Wollstein. His practice was modest, his patients poor, and his equipment basic — yet it was here, in his cramped home, that Koch began the private experiments that would overturn the understanding of disease forever.
